When the BBC set out to highlight the strength, creativity, and innovation within London’s manufacturing sector, DSI London was honoured to be chosen as one of the city’s success stories.
On 14 October, our Managing Director, Gerald Schwanzer, was interviewed live three times on BBC Radio London’s Breakfast Show between 7 and 10 a.m., and later featured that evening on BBC London TV.
The coverage reached around 1.5 million listeners and viewers, offering an inside look into our South London studio — where every costume and garment is handmade by our talented team.
Showcasing the Artistry Behind the Stage
The BBC’s attention was drawn by DSI London’s distinctive place within the performing arts.
From our costumes for West End blockbusters such as Moulin Rouge, Hamilton, and Stranger Things to our couture dresses as seen on Strictly Come Dancing, DSI London stands at the intersection of performance, fashion, and craftsmanship.
Each piece created in our South London studio reflects the artistry and precision required to support the world’s top performers.
Every stitch, crystal, and seam is part of a story — a story that begins, proudly, in London.

Made in London — Our Commitment and Our Promise
At DSI London, “Made in London” is far more than a label; it’s a principle that defines who we are.
Every garment is conceived, cut, and crafted locally, ensuring that our production remains sustainable, ethical, and true to our heritage.
In a world where most fashion and performance wear is outsourced, we continue to produce exclusively in London, supporting British manufacturing and providing meaningful employment to local artisans.
This commitment allows us to maintain the highest level of quality and control while ensuring that every DSI London creation embodies the excellence for which British design is renowned.
Proud to Be Part of London’s Manufacturing Community
London has a vibrant community of around 14,000 manufacturers, and we are proud to stand among them as advocates for creativity, innovation, and local production.
Our recognition on the BBC was made possible through London & Partners, the official growth agency for London.
This connection came about because
London & Partners also deliver the government-backed Made Smarter London programme, which supports manufacturers across the city, like us, to
adopt new digital technologies and strengthen local production.
We are truly grateful for their support in helping London manufacturers share their stories and embrace the future of smart, sustainable production.

From Strictly Come Dancing to Hamilton, from Croydon to the Royal Albert Hall, our mission remains the same:
to create performance wear of the highest standard — proudly Made in London.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to
BBC London,
London & Partners, and the
Made Smarter London programme for recognising and supporting our work.
Together, we celebrate the enduring strength of British manufacturing, the innovation that drives it forward, and the creativity that keeps London at its heart.
Made in London. Supporting the world stage.
