Week 8

10th December 2015

Saturday night’s show saw three 10’s being awarded to Georgia for her Charleston, and didn’t she deserve it!

Her dress also won top marks from us with a rhinestones encrusted gold number.

Featuring a satin ribbon skirt and ‘Cabaret’ inspired wig, the flapper girl was well and truly captured.

How about Kelly’s 90’s inspired outfit!

With Kevin dressed in complimentary colours and abstract prints, this was one pairing you couldn’t miss.

Highlighted with superb choreography we thoroughly enjoyed their hip hop Samba.

Unfortunately though, it was time to say goodbye to Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine as he quickstepped his way out of the competition.

The dresses across the board were all fantastic so take a closer look....

As worn by Helen George

Helen & Alijaz danced a very dramatic Tango on Saturday.

With Helen finding her character she was dressed the part in Flamenco red.

Teamed with her striking blond hair, this dress was perfect for capturing the flavour of the dance.

Dramatic, confident and classy this dress featured long Mesh sleeves and a high neckline.

With 3” Flamenco Crinoline to the hem it kicked the skirt out for extra flare to trim the skirt.

The dress was scattered with Preciosa Rhinestones in Light Siam, as well as Swarovski Sew-on Stones lining the neck; they’re the perfect no fuss colour match to DSI Flamenco red.

As worn by Katie Derham

Dancing the rumba with Anton, Katie looked the epitome of class and sophistication.

In a dress you’d expect to see for an Argentine Tango, it was perfect for creating a more stylish and refined rumba look.

With Black Smooth velvet for the ultimate depth in colour, this asymmetric cut is paired with Flamenco Smooth velvet panels to the back to create a sensuous low v back.

Featuring a sweetheart neckline topped with black Mesh to extend the neckline to a boat neck, the sense of class is further increased.

Trimmed with Jet Rhinestones, they create depth by highlighting the shape of the bust rather than becoming a feature in their own right; altogether, the perfect combination of elements.

As worn by Karen Clifton

Dancing the quickstep with Jeremy Vine, professional dancer Karen Clifton wore a beautiful Black and Crystal number.

Based on a Black Lycra leotard this very simple cut had a lot of detail within.

With a sweetheart neckline for that ultimate femininity and low scoop back with spaghetti straps, the top half of this dress is ”Strictlified” with thousands of  Preciosa Crystal coloured Rhinestones in varying sizes.

The skirt is made from a simple circular pattern and attached to the hips of the leotard.

Lined with Black Twinkle nylon the top layer adds detail with a sample fabric of striped Twinkle.

And finally the hem of this beautiful dress is finished with the ever popular 3” Soft boning in black to kick the skirt and create a fuller silhouette.

As worn by Aliona Vilani

Professional dancer Aliona Vilani, dancing with the very lovely Jay McGuiness from The Wanted, performed a beautiful Foxtrot on Saturday night.

Dressed in a much understated design, the dress was based on a Pale Turquoise Lycra bodice.

The sweetheart neckline is given a twist with added straight edges and a small v to the front, and the entire chest was encrusted with an array of Crystal AB and Aquamarine Preciosa Rhinestones.

The horizontal stripes around the body created with Rhinestones alone – a great feature for a petite frame like Aliona’s.

To the back the low v is filled with a corset back detail made from our very own DSI Stretch Satin and the skirt was cut into panels from the soft, fluid fabric Georgette.

Perfect combinations for a romantic feel that was epitomised in the Foxtrot.
