Georgette is one of the most commonly used polyester fabrics in the dance world. It epitomises the Ballroom look as it is so often used for Ballroom skirts and floats. Ideally suited for pleating this fabric is versatile and can create a wide range of looks. It’s soft and lightweight nature highlights and perfectly embraces the swing and flowing movements that characterise Ballroom dancing.  

Luxury Georgette, or more technically known as ‘Cationic Georgette’ is slightly heavier and therefore more superior in quality to regular georgette allowing for a brighter and more intense colour. More specifically, the brightest of the colours within the fluorescent spectrum such as the scarlet, flame red and turquoise can only be produced in the luxury version of georgette.

Feel fabulous in horizontal shadings of DSI dance fabrics. The most common shading is the horizontal shade, often referred to as Ombre, featuring a smooth colour graduation across the width of the fabric.  The most dramatic colour combinations are achieved by combining contrasting and polarising colours, most evident in our black horizontal shades. To achieve a perfect colour match, we send an original DSI georgette roll and ask the printer to use a darker colour graduation over half of the roll, so we combine a lighter colour with a darker print.

To achieve this black shaded effect we send an original DSI georgette roll and have a gradual black shade printed over the original shade maintaining the perfect and authentic colour match.

While we normally opt for contrasting eye catching vivid colour combinations, we opt occasionally for a romantic look, often achieved by having white DSI georgette rolls being overprinted by a another best matching colour print. Shaded georgette is ideally suited for the skirts and floats of Ballroom dresses. While above colours are from stock, we can create any colour combination for a minimum quantity of one roll.

Enthralled by the diverse range of pleating variations presented to us, we couldn't wait to share them with all of you. As a result, we now offer a comprehensive selection of pleating variations, in addition to the traditional sunray and flat pleating styles. Each half-circle pleat measures 100cm in length at a price of £56.25 + VAT (£67.50 incl.VAT). Please note that there is a 2-week lead time from order placement to delivery.

We can cut half circles in any DSI georgette and submit these to a sunray pleating service on request.  Please allow a minimum of 2-3 weeks from order to delivery of these half circles.
